In our area there is a proprietary  dynamometer.

This is the dynamometer9190RS/S 2WDof Vamag.

It is an inertial dynamometer (no brakes)

But how is there a load without brakes?

The dynamometer will provide a load corresponding to the weight/diameter of the rollers. If the car is four-wheel drive on a corresponding four-wheel drive dynamometer the load will be double.

How does a dynamometer calculate horsepower and torque?

The measurement calculation is quite complicated and differs from dynamometer to dynamometer. But as an indication we can say that a roller dynamometer

it needs some constants to give us the final results.

We therefore take into account the diameter of the tires and rims, the ambient temperature, barometric-altitude as well as the transmission ratio of the vehicle. So with all these data through the speed of rotation of the cylinders from the wheels the power is calculated.

What is the vehicle measurement process?

After the vehicle is attached to the dynamometer, we enter all these constants mentioned above into the dynamometer computer and the measurement process begins with the car accelerating until the selected speed is reached. After the acceleration is finished, we select neutral in the gearbox and the process beginsCoast Down. Here the deceleration dynamometer calculates the power losses. This amount is then added to the "power at the wheel" in order to obtain the "power at the crankshaft".

What does the dynamometer result show me?

The screen shows the Power on the motor, on the wheel, the torque of the vehicle as well as the duration of the dynamometer.
